This study provides a systematic literature review on the integration of smart value chains in sustainable food and beverage production, focusing on enabling technologies, managerial practices, and performance outcomes. Drawing on peer-reviewed articles from major academic databases, the review synthesizes current knowledge on digital innovations such as the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data analytics in enhancing transparency, efficiency, and sustainability across value chains. The findings reveal that smart technologies significantly improve resource efficiency, traceability, and environmental performance, while also supporting economic and social sustainability goals. However, challenges related to high implementation costs, technological complexity, and limited stakeholder collaboration remain critical barriers. This study contributes by offering a comprehensive framework linking technologies, practices, and outcomes, and highlights future research directions for advancing sustainable and resilient food systems.
